it was a MK1 Golf 1.5 GLS which had been sprayed up to look like the American version called the VW Rabbit! At the time I was a spotty 19 year old I thought it was the bees knees and used to cruise around with Dire Straights Brothers in Arms blasting out on the four speaker stereo! Nowadays the kids driving around just seem to listen to angry black rappers who are obsessed with tapping booty (whatever that is!) and machine gunning people that have hurt there feelings in some way or other! Or is it just another sign that I'm getting old? Anyway I've always wanted to know what fate befell my much loved but unreliable Rabbit! Suspect it ended up been banger raced, which would have been a shame! but now with cash been offered in the UK to scarp old cars and get up to £2000 off a new one, I guess some future classics will be long gone before anyone gets a chance to re-live their youth! Having said that, a few of us a still hanging on to what's left of our midlife crisis!
